Jingwei Li

Mr. Jingwei Li was born in 1929, a native of Xianyang in Shanxi Province. He graduated from Xian Medical College in 1955 and had been assigned to the Ministry of Health. In 1956, took part in the study of the first session' class for western medical doctor research TCM. In 1958, he was assigned to the Research Office of Medical History. During the period of 1978-1982, had been entrusted to organized and established the Institute of Medical History and had been appointed the director of the institute. Now he is helding the post as a research fellow of Medical Histroy and Literature Institute, as a tutor of doctoral students, being a director member of Medical History Institute of China Medicine Academy, also being the editor in chief of Chinese Medical History Journal.

Now he is devoting to the cause of culturing the oversea doctoral students. Firstly enrolled the new post graduated, those learing Chinese medical history from Singapore, South Korea and from Taiwan and hard study for their doctor'degree. He ealier and later had repected many scholars from Japan, America, German, New Zealand and Taiwan for engaged in advance study and investigation. Generally he was known in exploring and excavating the inventions and creations in acient Chinese Medicine in Sui, Tang dynasty medical history, surgery history, disease history and in research of the medical history theory and in charge of compiling the tool's book of TCM and medical history. In 1987, he took the charge of the compiling work of the four giant books: "The General History of Chinese Medicine" which entrusted by the Ministry of Health and been the vice-managing editor in chief. In 1991, he in charge of project-"Interpretation and Explaination of TCM Terms".

Founding the Museum of Medical History, after it formally open in 1982, widely gazing by scholar of domestic and abroad.

After 1983, he had been invited to many countries to Thialand, took part in a exhibition of today' Chinese Medicine, being the consultant of Chinese delegation and the head of expert group to Japan three times had attended to the symposium on the mordernization of traditional medicine in Southeast Country, which was helding in Tokyo, alos he had given a special speech on the academic convention of 86 session, about the Japanese medical history, which held in Hongqian, a Japanese city.

To America, earlier and later, twice been the member of China Science Delegation attended the 150 Anniversary of American Science Promotion Association hold in New York and attended the Fifth Session of the International Academy Convention on Chinese Science and Technology History, hold in Santiago.

To German, he took part in the research and discussion of cooperation project between China and German.

To England, he attended the Sixth Session Convention on Chinese Scientific and Technic History in Cambridge.

To Canada, he took part in the exchanging of TCM immunity and cancer treatment etc..

Recent year, earlier and later he had been triple invited and visited to Taiwan. research and discuss the prospect of TCM academic exchanging between the eacoasts, also made a report on medical history and given a lesson to the doctoral students, also had been invited as director member of Lifu Fundation. In 1992, he achieve the special allowance for the outstanding contribution awarded by the State Council.
