traditional Dai drugs
The
traditional Dai drugs are one of the ancient traditional medicines
in China and the traditional drugs were recorded in Bei Ye Jin
(Bei Ye Scripture) 2500 years ago. Dai nationality has been lived
in Xishuang Banna of Yunnan Province, where the favorable natural
environment supplys perfect medicinal resources for Dai nationality.
According to the statistics there are 1200 kinds of the traditional
Dai drugs in China. 520 kinds of them are collected in Xi Shuang
Ban Na Dai Yao Zi (The Record of Medicines in Xi Shuang Ban Na
Dai Nationality), 71 kinds of them are common used one.
Herbs
among the traditional Dai drugs include Pahudia ryrocarpa (Ma
Ga He Han [Mianqie]), Hodgsonia macrocarpa (Ma Jing [Yaogu]),
Mangifera indica (Ma Mang [Mango]), Digitaria sanguinalis (Ya
Yong [Matang]), Dracontomelon dao (Ge Ma Kou La [Renmianguo]),
(Ge Dan [Tangzong]), Cordyline fruticosa (Ya Zu Ma [Zhujiao]),
Dracaena cinnabari or D. dracol (Mai Ga Sai [Longxueshu]), etc.
The animal drugs occupy an important position in the traditional
Dai drugs. Not only there are a lot of kinds of them, but also
the medicament portions of them show some special characteristics
for medical use.
