The
types of drugs collected by the local standard
The
local standard is an implement or supplement of Pharmacopoeia
of the People's Republic of China. It usually contains local drugs.
For example, Hyoscyamus niger (Tianxianzi) collected by the pharmacopoeia
is the seed of henbane (Langdang) belonged to the plant of family
of aubergine, but for people in Guangdong and Jianxi Provinces
it is the seed of the family of Acanthaceae known as "South Tianxianzi".
According to statistics, there are more than 200 kinds of drugs
being used by different ways in difference regions. Most common
ones are Viola yedoensis or V. japonica or Gueldenstaeddtua multiflora
or G. pauciflora (Diding), Pulsatilla chinensiss or P. dahurica
or P. koreana or P. ambigua (Baitouweng), Dryonteris crassirhizoma
or Lunathyrium acrostichoides or Matteuccia struthiopteriss or
Osmunda japonica or Blechnum orientale or Brainia insignis or
Woodwardia japonica (Guanzhong), Clerodendron cytrtophyllum or
Polygonum tinctorium or Isatis tinctoria or I. Indigotica or Baphicacanthrs
cusia (Daqingye), etc.
There
has been no national regulation for local standards in China yet.
The regional common used medicinal materials occupy a great proportion
in each local standard. For example, only 11% kinds of materials
recorded in The Standard of Chinese Medicinal Materials in Sichuan
Province were collected by Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic
of China. While 72% of the materials collected by The Standard
of Chinese Medicinal Materials in Yunnan Province belong to the
regional materials. The regional drugs show local characteristic
markedly. For instance, this kinds of medicinal materials include
those come from Sichuan province, such as Ligusticum glaucescens
(Aba Danggui), Arisaema consanguineum or A. japonicum (Chuanzhong
Nanxing), Codonopsis tangshen (Chuan Dangshen), Paaeonia szechuanica
(Sichuan Mudan), Solomon's seal (Kangding Yuzhu), and Aristolochia
