China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center, the former Acupuncture Training Center for Foreign Doctors approved by the State Council. was set up in 1975 and gained its present name in 1983.It is also the acupuncture training center for foreign students held by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing.

China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center was founded at the Acupuncture Institute of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine .It benefit s from the best location in the political, economic, historical and cultural center of China the capital, Beijing. It benefits from the rich and abundant studies and researches and medical treatment carried out by the Acupuncture Institute of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It also benefits from the first class teachers and teaching conditions . All these advantages attract great interests from foreign students. Since its foundation, under the purpose of spreading and teaching the medical theory of Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion with the clinical techniques, the training center has accomplished success fully the special task of “improving the teaching method of acupuncture and moxibustion and providing more opportunities for foreign students” entrusted to it by the WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine. It has trained altogether 2801 doctors from over 99 countries and regions of the world. Meanwhile, some specialists have been sent to more than ten countries, such as United States, Great Britain, Japan, Holland, etc, to carry out acupuncture and moxibustion training and medical treatment. In 1982,the training center was acknowledged as the International Acupuncture and Moxibustion Research and Training Center by UNDP (United Nations Development Program). The textbook “Chinese Acupuncture” has been adopted as the “must read “to examine acupuncturist by countries like United States, etc.

China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center works out well-arranged teaching programs, provides the long term courses and the short term courses, and makes a good combination of theory teaching with clinical practice. Besides this , the Center focuses its attention on popularizing acupuncture and moxibustion and improving the acupuncture and moxibustion techniques as well. In the students spare time, the Center hold courses to teach the traditional ways of health preservation, organizes them for sightseeing in some historical and interesting places of Beijing, and for enjoying the traditional folk art so as to help the students get a good understanding of Chinese culture. During the last 20 years, the center has accumulated rich teaching experience on spreading knowledge of acupuncture and moxibustion and produced a group of capable teachers and translators. At the present time, there are 12 full-time teachers and 30 invited part-time professors, most of whom are famous masters and professors of acupuncture. For instance, Professor Cheng Xinnong, the vice director of both the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center and the Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association, is world famous. Apart from the teachers, these are 22 translators who are responsible for translation in English, Japanese, French, German, Korean, Spanish, etc.

At the time of the 20th anniversary, the reconstruction of the center has been finished, so the living condition for students and the service facilities have been improved greatly. The center will accept foreign doctors with a new outlook and give them the best quality teaching so as to meet their requirements and give satisfaction, The center aims to spread the Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion all over the world and to make a contribution to the medical health and preservation of all mankind.
